Stop Doing These Ten Things As An Artist
Perfectionism. Growth comes from experimenting and making mistakes - go with the flow and don’t be afraid of messing up at times.
Comparing yourself to others. Your art is unique - comparisons are pointless and will only bring you down.
Thinking you are too old. It is never too late to pursue your dreams. Creativity does not have an expiration date.
Being too consistent. Its great to discover your style, but don’t get stuck. No one wants to paint the same painting over and over again. Let your style evolve into whatever direction feels right.
Expecting immediate success. You cannot force it so focus on the process rather than the results
Worry about criticism. Not everyone will like your work and that is ok.
Thinking you need to go to art school to be a serious artist. Some of the best artists are self-taught.
Buying expensive materials. Some of the best art has been produced with simple, affordable materials.
Following trends. It is far better to produce authentic work which will stand the test of time.
Social media. Getting a lot of followers and likes does not mean you are a great artist. Producing good work is all that matters.
